A Date for Your Diary. After the great success of the 2008 conference, we are sticking with the winning formula. The 2009 conference will be held in Birmingham on February 6, 2009. There will be a general meeting for the membership and a dinner on the evening of the 5th. Click here for programme details.
Do You Have Something to Say? A year goes by all too quickly, and the programme for the 2009 conference is well underway. However, if there is a particular topic you are interested in, please drop us an email and we will see if it can be worked into the programme. We are currently looking for members interested in giving short presentations lasting about 15 minutes. If you might be interested, please let us know.
DwSIs in Prison Dentistry. As you will be aware the document guidelines for the appointment of DwSIs in Prison Dentistry has now been launched. For those of you who do not have a copy there is a link on our Resources page. The Association has been in discussion with the Department of Health and meetings have been held to express the Association's views and a way forward to implement the document.
Resources. We are setting up templates of documents that might be useful to our members. The idea is to develop a pool of resources of patient literature, practice policies, audit, governance and patient questionnaires. If you have anything that you feel is of use to others then please send it on and we will consider it for the website.
Duraphat Prescriptions. Several dentists have contacted us regarding difficulties in prescribing Duraphat toothpaste. The common problem seems to be that pharmacies are querying these prescriptions on a cost/benefit basis. If you are having problems with this issue, would you share your experiences with us so that we can get an idea of what is going on nationally?
A Final Note. If anyone has items of news or topics they wish to raise, let us know. The more we all put into the association, the more we will all benefit.
